Intel Launching Penryn Dual and Quad Core Processors

Intel Launching Penryn Dual and Quad Core Processors

Intel Corporation (San Francisco) asserts that Penryn family of processors (45-nanometer) will be in production till the mid of the year 2007. The company has also decided to launch a 45-nm processor known as Nehalem which will be introduced in the market in the year 2008. While giving a statement before the press, Pat Gelsinger (General Manager and Senior vice president of Intel’s digital enterprise team) claims about the launch of the hardware.

Intel further declares that they are making fabulous designs which will have more than 15 45 nm hi-k product that will be developed by passing through various stages. They also have decided to plan the 2 fabs of 45 nm and will be introduced in the market by end of 2007. By year 2008, the company will invent 4 fabs of 45 nm.

Santa Clara (Intel Corporation, California) affirms that 6 Penryn processors involving a dual core mobile processor and quad and dual core desktop processors will be accessible beneath the brand name (Intel Core processor). The company further said that quad and dual core Penryn server processors will also be introduced under the brand name (Intel Xeon processor).

Gelsinger discloses some of its features of the processors and said that it is apart from an easy contraction of a 65 nm instrument. He declares that the discovery of 45 nm node is related to an elementary reformation of the transistor and is an excellent attempt of Intel connoisseurs named as Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore.

The technology of these processors provide 20 % quicker transistor swapping speed, roughly twice the budget of the transistor and lower leakage current than the 65 nm technology of the company. These processors which are on the production stage contain 16 threads and 8 cores. Therefore, their latest versions offers both multi-level shared cache and multi-threading at the same time.

Therefore, I hope when they will be introduced in the market, they will surely hit the market. The price range for this processor is not disclosed in the market till now.
